It Takes Determination To Lose Stomach Fat

We are bombarded with media images of fit men and women with flat stomachs and sexy abs. If you are struggling to control your weight and you have a few extra rolls of flab in your midriff area these images can make you feel decidedly unattractive. Furthermore, excessive amounts of fat around the stomach area are associated with cardiovascular disease. Therefore if you want to live a long life free of health complications and feel better about yourself it is a good idea to take the appropriate measures to lose your fat stomach.

Unfortunately it is not that easy to lose stomach fat. It takes quite a bit of tenacity and a three pronged approach. However, if you stick to the plan you can eventually lose excess stomach fat and look great. The time needed to see results obviously varies depending on how much weight you have to lose from your abdominal area.

A Calorie Controlled Diet

If you cannot resist the temptation of fatty foods and sugary snacks then you should not expect to lose your fat stomach any time soon. If you are ever going to get rid of your unsightly belly flab then you must follow a calorie restricted low fat, low sugar diet. That means no bacon sandwiches, burgers, fries, chips or chocolate. Instead you will need to fill up on lean fish and meat, fruits, vegetables, beans, pulses and whole grains. You will also need to consume less calories than you burn.

Step Up The Cardio

Increasing the amount of cardiovascular exercise you do will help you lose your fat stomach and get rid of some of the flab in other areas of your body. It will also improve your overall health. You should aim to do around forty-five minutes of moderately intense cardiovascular exercise such as cycling or jogging a minimum of three times per week. Try to find a cardiovascular exercise you enjoy since this makes it easier to stick to.

Crunches And Other Resistance Exercises

Cardiovascular workouts and a sensible calorie controlled diet are enough to help you lose your fat stomach. However, if you also want your abdominal area to look toned and attractive like that of a celebrity you will need to do some resistance work too. There are several different abdominal exercises and core workouts that you can do to tone up your abdominal muscles including plank exercises, crossover crunches, oblique crunches, reverse crunches and vertical leg crunches.

You can watch videos on line, read instructional articles or consult with a fitness professional in order to find out how to do core workout exercises correctly. You may also want to consider investing in some leg weights to get the maximum benefit from some of these abdominal exercises. You can buy leg weights via the internet or at certain department stores in most municipalities.
